Growth Lab by Insurity Charter
Purpose
Growth Lab by Insurity develops people who turn intent into outcomes with AI. We improve the work Insurity and its clients depend on today while investigating what insurance, software, and the business itself could become.
The Lab has three objectives. Growth School develops the people; immediate solutions put that capability to work; exploration opens new directions. Lessons from delivery and exploration return to the School so our capability grows with the work.
Objective 1: Train Growth Leaders
Develop Growth Leaders through initial and ongoing training, discussion, and real project work. A Growth Leader combines entrepreneurship, vision, solutioning, and orchestration: listening to the business, choosing worthwhile outcomes, directing AI across disciplines, verifying results, and owning the consequences.
Growth School is the Lab’s home for this development. Its courses share a presentation format and a common theme, and the curriculum grows as we discover new needs.
Training continues beyond completing a course. Growth Leaders apply the ideas, challenge one another’s explanations, review actual outcomes, and bring useful lessons back into the curriculum. Progress means greater independence, better judgment, and a broader ability to deliver outcomes.
Objective 2: Build Immediate Solutions
Use AI to solve problems Insurity and its clients face now. Begin with the desired outcome and the circumstances that make it valuable. Choose the form of the solution from those needs: software, a service, a changed workflow, or a combination.
Each project has an accountable Growth Leader, a clear intent, relevant constraints, and evidence that will show whether the result works. AI can contribute across research, design, engineering, and delivery. The Growth Leader remains responsible for decisions, verification, and the outcome.
The Projects board makes the work visible through projects, columns, and cards. Capture the next actions, ownership, decisions, and evidence needed to move work forward. Read-only and edit access are separate.
Success is useful work delivered and verified: better client outcomes, shorter delivery times, lower full costs, or stronger quality. Reusable specifications, methods, and lessons should improve the next project as well.
Objective 3: Explore the Future
Reserve capacity for questions that extend beyond the current backlog. Investigate new products, services, markets, and business models, including possibilities that were previously uneconomic.
Our Compass proposes a direction for insurance software as the bridges between intent and reality become shorter:
- Insurity IP as AI agent specifications. Express accumulated software and insurance knowledge in specifications agents can implement and verify.
- Software product diversity. AI makes building new products trivial in this conjecture; identifying valuable problems and dependable outcomes becomes more consequential.
- Bespoke software. Craft insurance software for a single customer and its circumstances.
- Just-in-time software. Intent becomes written policy contracts, shortening the bridge between a desired insurance outcome and its realization.
- An industry transformed. Insurance develops in a new direction as products, relationships, and business models change.
The Compass guides inquiry. Its stages may overlap, and their timing and final direction remain open. For each transition, ask what becomes possible, what remains difficult, and what evidence would change our judgment.
Exploration should produce inspectable results: a tested explanation, a prototype, evidence from a customer, or a reason to change direction. A finding that rules out an attractive idea is useful when it improves the next decision.
How the Objectives Work Together
Training develops the capacity to deliver and explore. Immediate solutions expose real constraints and create practical knowledge. Exploration challenges the assumptions behind both the work and the training. Growth School carries those lessons forward.
Keep current commitments explicit and make room for exploration deliberately. The Lab’s leader sets priorities across all three objectives and revisits them as evidence changes. Learning, delivery, and exploration should each be visible in the portfolio; urgent work should not silently consume the whole mandate.
Responsibility and Working Practice
Buddy Williams founded and leads Growth Lab, with responsibility for its direction and priorities. The developing cohort in India works toward independent Growth Leader capability across research, product thinking, engineering, and delivery.
The working loop is to listen, choose an outcome, charter the work, delegate and verify, then learn and reinvest. Growth School teaches the practice and the mutual expectations behind it. Project records preserve decisions and results so others can inspect and build on them.
Use AI fully, challenge inherited assumptions, and change course when evidence warrants it. Distinguish a conjecture from an observation and a model’s implications from results achieved in practice. Models and scenarios support investigation; their projections are not delivery guarantees.
Reviewing Progress
Review the Lab against all three objectives:
- Growth Leaders: What can people now understand, decide, and deliver that they could not before? What should Growth School teach next?
- Immediate solutions: What improved for Insurity or a client, and what evidence supports that conclusion?
- Future exploration: What did we learn about a new possibility? What should we pursue, revise, or stop?
Revise priorities, methods, and this charter when the answers require it. The enduring result is stronger human capability, useful solutions, and better-informed choices about Insurity’s future.
